This report complements the NSAT-1 Phase-A Report with a discussion of three important topics. These are: (1) The emerging cooperative maritime surveillance systems. (2) The possibility of a dual-band NSAT sensor for detection of both X-band and S-band radars. (3) The effects of ocean waves on the detectability of the navigation radar main lobe. It is concluded that cooperative systems will give improved tracking of civilian ships, that a dual-band sensor seems feasi-ble, and that ocean waves will lead to a somewhat degraded position accuracy and a wider swath width.en_GB
